Signs of progress

On July 18, Bill Koenig of the Forest Preserve District presented a sign recognizing the work WCIC and the Lions Club have done at the trailheads at Mannheim and Cermak and at 31st near Sunnyside. Two signs are to be installed soon.

The WCIC has been leading an ongoing project in conjunction with the Preserve Keeper Corps volunteer program to clear invasive species and litter from the trailheads. Flower beds have been prepared and will be planted with native perennials as soon as they are available from the grower.

We have partnered with the Lions Club on this project, and have received help from many volunteers in town to date.
