A bright spot on a rainy day
Thank you to all the volunteers to helped make May 26 a successful day of
planting and cleaning up at the Mannheim/Balmoral median, the post office, and
the Westchester Public Library.
We had several newcomers join us to dig in the dirt and plant new annuals and
pull weeds. We are happy with the outcome, and we hope those driving or walking
by these prominent places in our village feel the same way.
A little color -- in the form of beautiful flowers and plants -- can go a long way in creating a more positive image of Westchester. Keep scrolling down to see the median as it looked in spring 2006, and as it looks now.
Thanks also goes to those who stood at the intersection of Mannheim and Cermak and sought donations from passers-by. They were able to point directly to the work going on to show where donations to the WCIC are going.
Keep checking back with us. Spring's not even over yet, we have plenty to do before the next frost.
