We're wild about the Wildcats

Congratulations to the Westchester Wildcats, a traveling baseball team of 13- and 14-year-olds. The Wildcats had a great streak this month, winning the 2008 Batavia Blast Fourth of July Tournament. The team lost narrowly to the St. Charles Knights, but came back to win five straight, including the 10-8 defeat over the Lombard Lightning for the championship. They scored 65 runs over the course of the tournament.

The team is also a winner in our books: We owe them our gratitude for helping get the word out about our Buona Beef fund-raiser that is coming up this weekend. The players delivered flyers to homes on the west side of town. Thanks, guys!
